Terminus Technologies had the software, the AI, and the vision. They needed a hardware partner who could turn a component list into a field-ready product. npd engineered the enclosure that brought it all together – a weatherproof, multi-sensor housing now deployed in smart cities, airports, and stadiums worldwide.
The Challenge
Terminus Technologies had developed a sophisticated sensor fusion and AI perception platform capable of extracting 100+ data points per object in real time. The software was proven. The component list was defined. What they didn’t have was a physical product.
They needed a hardware partner who could take a LiDAR module, a thermal sensor, an optical camera, and an Nvidia Jetson edge processor – and package them into a single, field-deployable enclosure that could survive outdoor environments, dissipate heat passively, and look like the premium product the technology deserved.

What We Did
npd led the full hardware development process – industrial design, mechanical engineering, electronics integration, prototyping, and manufacturing readiness.
The core challenge was packaging three discrete sensor systems alongside an onboard processing unit into a weatherproof enclosure without compromising performance. Passive cooling had to be engineered into the form rather than bolted on. Every surface, angle, and material choice had to serve both function and thermal management.
We used our in-house rapid prototyping capability to iterate quickly on the mechanical design, validating geometry and thermal performance before moving onto the creation of a high fidelity functional prototype, working with external manufacturing partners.
The result is the SafeSight™ Outdoor – a tri-sensor smart city camera fusing LiDAR, thermal, and optical data in real time, with sub-centimetre spatial accuracy, 200m detection range, and 99.7% object classification accuracy. All from a single all-weather enclosure.

The Result
- Triple sensor fusion – LiDAR, thermal, and optical – packaged into a single outdoor-rated enclosure
- 200m detection range with sub-centimetre spatial accuracy
- 99.7% object classification accuracy
- Passive cooling system engineered into the enclosure design
- Nvidia Jetson edge processor integrated for onboard AI processing
- Product successfully transitioned from R&D into market-ready hardware
- Now deployed across smart city, airport, and stadium environments
