Brief.
In collaboration with the founders of Shift, we were asked to design, develop and manufacture an innovative and completely plastic-free vessel for natural deodorant, which would hold compostable refills.
This breakthrough product idea marks a significant milestone in sustainable personal care solutions and is one which fully aligns with our approach to product design.
Process.
Our ten-month journey to create a packaging solution for a deodorant that significantly reduces environmental impact without compromising on functionality and user experience began. Our team tested numerous mechanisms and forms, ultimately developing a durable, user-friendly, and eco-conscious solution.
Throughout the design process, we focused on minimizing the environmental footprint by exploring alternative materials and mechanisms. Rigorous testing and iterative design allowed us to refine our approach, ensuring the final product met both our high standards for usability and sustainability.
Result.
The result is a mono-material casing made entirely from aluminum, ensuring it is both fully recyclable and capable of maintaining its material value indefinitely. Unlike traditional deodorant stick packaging that relies heavily on plastic components, our design eliminates plastic entirely, setting a new standard for sustainable packaging.
The innovative casing features a simple and effective pushing action, designed for ease of use. By reimagining the application process, we avoided the complexities of traditional twisting mechanisms and instead harnessed the natural motion of hands.
This back-to-basics approach not only simplifies the user experience but also enhances the product’s longevity and reliability.
