When you work at a design and product development company like npd, the work rarely fits into a neat box. My role here is no exception. As npd’s Marketing Director, I spend my time across three distinct areas (and that’s what keeps things interesting!)
Three Sides of the Same Coin
First, there’s marketing npd itself. We’re not your typical design agency, and our marketing needs to reflect that. We talk about the services we offer, the business model we’re building and evolving, and the philosophy that drives everything we do. Then there’s the products we invest in – brands like Site Pod and Arc Master. Because npd doesn’t just design products and walk away, we’re invested in them through their entire lifecycle. That means I get to help shape their marketing and positioning.
The third part is supporting some of the clients we work with. We’re so integrated into our projects and products that we understand them deeply. With clients like Multisource Power, I’ve been working on brand positioning, new website and content strategy. It’s an extension of what we do naturally – we know these products inside and out, so of course we can tell their stories authentically.
What Actually Drives This Work
The most rewarding part of what I do isn’t the strategy or the channels or the metrics. It’s the people and the mission. Working with a team that’s genuinely passionate and knowledgeable about their craft is a breath of fresh air. Everyone here has a strong vision for what products deserve to exist, and they live it out every single day.
That philosophy extends to the work itself. When we grew Site Pod’s TikTok channel through testing and iteration, it wasn’t just about vanity metrics – it generated real leads for the business. That’s what meaningful marketing looks like. We’re working on products that genuinely make a difference in the world, and that changes how you approach telling their stories.
What I Bring to the Table
If I had to name my superpower, it’s connecting with people. I think it comes down to genuinely wanting to understand what makes something or someone tick. I like to call myself a bit of a Sherlock when it comes to uncovering the real truths and insights behind the brands and products I’m marketing. That groundwork is what creates successful marketing that actually resonates.
The other side of that is taking complexity and making it human. Technical products, intricate processes, bold visions – they’re only powerful if people can understand them and connect with them. That’s where real storytelling happens.
Why This Matters Right Now
After being relatively quiet about the amazing work npd has been doing, we’re changing that. The team here won Creative Studio of the Year at the Prolific North Awards – recognition that an agency like this absolutely deserves. But recognition only matters if the world knows what you’re doing and why it matters.
I’m really happy to be taking that story out into the world and being part of npd’s growth in the future. Because at the end of the day, that’s what great marketing is: telling true stories about work that deserves to be seen.
